We are very pleased to announce five new additions across Chiltern Street and Seymour Place, enhancing the comprehensive selection of independent brands, contemporary restaurants and unique experiences on our 110-acre estate.
Monocle Magazine celebrated its 15th anniversary in March this year, and in a strong showing of the magazine’s commitment to Marylebone the Monocle Shop officially opened its doors at 34 Chiltern Street, alongside the already established flagship Monocle Café at 18 Chiltern Street. The Monocle Shop offers a carefully curated selection of clothing, magazines, bags, homeware, stationery and perfumes, strengthening the selection of specialist shops on Chiltern Street.
The latest addition to Chiltern Street’s iconic red-brick stretch of independent boutiques and heritage brands is luxury florist Grandirosa. This month Grandirosa opens its first customer-facing boutique at 36 Chiltern Street, retailing varieties of its Signature Collection bouquets. Until now Grandirosa has operated solely from its Hackney studio on an appointment-only basis for clients including the Soho House Group, Annabel’s London and The Lanesborough. The opening of Grandirosa’s flagship floristry boutique on Chiltern Street highlights Marylebone’s post-pandemic resilience.
Seymour Place will welcome Asian restaurant ULI to its array of independent eateries this autumn. Born in Notting Hill, ULI will launch their second restaurant in Marylebone at 13-15 Seymour Place, offering a fresh and healthy take on modern Asian food in a design-led setting featuring natural limed oak and soft tones of blue. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant will serve delicious but grounded Asian snacks, small plates, mains and curated cocktails, with a conviction that each dish should always be made from scratch using traditional Chinese, Thai, Malay and Singaporean disciplines.
T by Tamara will also be opening on Seymour Place later this summer. Cordon-bleu-trained pâtissier Tamara Al Saadi will launch her flagship patisserie at 17 Seymour Place in August, where customers will be invited to sample a range of fusion cakes and pastries in a contemporary and wholesome setting inspired by Tamara’s Levantine heritage.
Family-run independent Greek and Italian delicatessen Fratelli Greci has recently expanded to a double unit premises at 26-28 Seymour Place. The extended offering includes a café serving freshly baked Greek pastries and coffee, alongside a retail selection of authentic Mediterranean olive oils, antipasti, cured meats and wines. These new additions to Seymour Place will strengthen the diverse food and beverage offering in the area, which includes the likes of Basque grill restaurant Lurra, Japanese kaiseki restaurant Roketsu and Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant KOL.
The calibre of new brands speaks to the Portman Estate’s retail strategy of creating a vibrant independent retail and leisure community set against the beautiful Georgian backdrop of Marylebone. By attracting such high quality independent retail and restaurant occupiers, The Portman Estate remains dedicated to promoting and protecting the enduring heritage and long-term success of Marylebone and London’s West End.
