Since 2007, we have invested significantly to improving Old Quebec Street as a key gateway into our Estate and as a high functioning oasis space, providing respite from the bustling Oxford Street.
Three retail units were created on the western side of the street to activate and enliven the streetscape. To support the retail environment, we enhanced the space with greenery in planters and catenary lights to create a welcoming and safe environment during the day and evening.
Westminster City Council identified Old Quebec Street as a key side street as part of the Oxford Street Programme. In 2021, temporary greening and public seating was added as part of their Spring Showcase to increase biodiversity and provide places for pause and rest. More changes are expected for Old Quebec Street through the Oxford Street Programme and you can find out the latest updates here.
The northern section of Old Quebec Street has recently been transformed into an active travel zone. We worked with the City Council to enhance cycle hire, cycle parking and e-scooter parking in the area as well as greening.
In 2023, we supported the Church of the Annunciation, Marble Arch on their funding application to restore the Calvary War Memorial on the corner of Old Quebec Street and Bryanston Street. The memorial is a much-loved community asset that commemorates members of the local community who lost their lives in the First World War.
