Published in late 2022, “From Somerset to Portman Square” charts the remarkable journey of the Portman family from their origins as medieval merchants in the West Country to their creation in more recent centuries of a great London estate at Marylebone. The book touches on many important moments in English history, but is at heart the story of successive Portman generations and of a legacy whose significance continues to the present day.
